TAP Air Portugal’s Stopover program has been named the world’s best for the sixth consecutive year by Global Traveler magazine at the 12th Leisure Lifestyle Awards in Philadelphia, USA.

In 2023, 214,000 travelers took advantage of a free stopover of up to 10 days in Lisbon or Porto as part of their journey. Notably, 20 percent of these travelers were from the United States.

The most popular final destinations for American Stopover customers included Barcelona, Madrid, and Rome. Additionally, Funchal and Ponta Delgada ranked among the top 10 destinations for Americans. TAP also offers a second stopover in Portugal with a 25 percent discount on domestic flights.

Portugal Stopover participants enjoy exclusive offers and discounts at 149 partners nationwide, covering hotels, restaurants, activities, tours, museums, shopping, and more.

Global Traveler magazine annually honors the best in leisure and lifestyle travel, based on a survey of over 817,000 readers conducted between July 2023 and March 2024. TAP’s award was accepted by Fernanda Ottavio and Katherine Soares.

TAP Air Portugal, established in 1945, is Portugal’s leading airline and a prominent carrier between Europe and Brazil. As a Star Alliance member since 2005, TAP's hub in Lisbon provides extensive access to Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

This winter, TAP offers more than 1,050 weekly flights to 80 cities in 30 countries. The North American network includes 77 weekly flights from the USA, Canada, and Mexico to Portugal.

TAP is committed to fleet modernization, operating one of the youngest fleets globally, with Airbus next-generation NEO aircraft known for efficiency and reduced emissions. TAP also operates 19 Embraer aircraft in its regional fleet.

Recognized for its safety, TAP is rated the safest airline in Europe and the sixth safest globally by Airline Ratings. It has been named Best Airline in Europe for 13 consecutive years by Global Traveler readers and has received multiple accolades as Europe’s Leading Airline to Africa and South America by the World Travel Awards.
