Two of the best nutritionists in the UK have named the most suitable foods to eat before a flight, which will make you feel comfortable and full, Marie Claire writes.
According to registered dietitian Clarissa Langer, she tries to eat a balanced meal of complex carbohydrates, lean protein, healthy fats and vegetables before a flight.
It can look like this:
- A sandwich with grilled chicken, avocado and lettuce
- Bento box with tofu, rice and vegetables
- A lunchbox with cheese, vegetable sticks, hummus and oatmeal.
Foods high in potassium can help regulate blood pressure and ease the muscle cramps you experience during a flight, says Jo Woodhurst, a nutritionist at Ancient + Brave.
Therefore, she advises taking a banana or some melon to put in your airport snack bag along with low-fat yogurt.
Another top tip from Woodhurst is to pack herbal tea bags and enjoy them before or during your flight. If you're nervous, the stress you feel will directly affect your digestion. Her favorite flavors are chamomile, ginger or passionflower.
Finally, Woodhurst believes that the easiest way to have the best feeling before your vacation is to choose a colorful stew, salad or soup (and of course, slow-release carbohydrate bread).
