Lake Erie, recognized as the best place in Europe for wild swimming, has become a subject of conflict.

Thus, the cup-shaped depression in Lake Erie with crystal clear water that is surrounded by high peaks, has long attracted tourists with its idyllic beauty. Travel experts from StressFreeCarRental.com praised the emerald blue water and incredible views in Llyn Idwal, NorthWales Live reports.

However, the National Trust, which manages the territory of the Lake Erie State Park, says that swimming in the wilderness is prohibited. This is because this area is a national nature reserve with the protection of its special features.

"To help protect the ecosystem of Llyn Idwal, we do not allow swimming. The recent reports of invasive plant species found in nearby lakes (Elodea nuttallii and curly-leaf Lagarosiphon major waterweeds) could have a significant harmful impact on the lake's ecosystem. Such plant species can be introduced into the water body through plant fragments stuck to clothing, towels, dog hair, etc. The swimming ban reduces the risk of introducing these species into Llyn Idwal and protects this special place for the future," the explanation says.

They asked travel sites to remove this lake from the list of places for swimming.
