The best places to visit in the UK in 2024
Time Out has published the best places in the UK to visit in 2024, and there are a huge number of worthy destinations, including picturesque towns, bustling cities, and Caribbean-inspired islands.
Anyone planning a vacation in the UK knows that the country is filled with great destinations: hidden islands with beaches, huge cities with historical sites and brilliant nightlife, great coastal towns for typically British days by the sea. The magazine writes about the most popular tourist destinations in its article mirror.co.
According to the Time Out team, Bristol should be at the top of your list for next year's visit. The city boasts a cultural scene that is "as exciting as London", as well as "perfect streets and a bustling, diverse nightlife". Next year will see a host of extra-arts and culture, including a musical adaptation of Starter for Ten, a new festival DIASPORA! showcasing BIPOC ethnic majority artists, an exciting new gallery and Boxhall, a new "space for street food, beer and events".
Bristol was not the only city to impress. Second place in the ranking went to Hull, which was chosen because it "has become an amazing capital for the UK's LGBTQ+ community in 2023." Hull previously held the title of City of Culture. At the time, the British Council described it as "an often overlooked city" with a lot of historical monuments and references to famous figures who have lived in the city for centuries.
Third in the ranking were the Isles of Scilly. Earlier this year, they were named one of the best islands in the world. Although not as hot and pleasant as the Caribbean, they are often compared to great hotspots due to their crystal clear water, soft white sandy beaches, and spectacular landscapes covered with wildflowers.
The list includes all 15 of the best places in the UK to visit next year:
