The lack of public toilets is the main problem of tourism in Turkey
The analysis of the Turkish tourist market has shown that one of its main problems remains poor service or complete absence of public toilets. In this regard, industry experts appealed to local authorities to solve the "toilet" issue, as in some regions the situation with sanitary facilities is critical.
In particular, online publication Turizm Gunlugu reported that tourists arriving in the country complain about the lack of outdoor toilets. "It is difficult to find such a sanitary facility, and it is far from certain that even if you find a restroom, it will be in 'normal' condition," the media outlet summarized.
Thus, according to the newspaper, in many popular tourist areas of Turkey, such as Gökçeada (the famous "wind island") and Büyükada (one of the frequently visited islands in the Sea of Marmara), toilets are poorly maintained, which leaves a "gloomy" impression on foreigners visiting these places.
In addition, the publication complained, even "bad" toilets here are very few, 1-2 at most. And in such popular locations as Kefalos Beach and Eski Bademli in Gokceada, there are none at all. Local authorities, according to the publication, do not pay attention to the problem.
"Municipalities, which receive a lot of income from tourism, should urgently solve the issue of public toilets and find opportunities to invest in their construction in order to meet the natural needs of vacationers and not spoil their impressions of visiting Turkey" - says the author of the article.
