The woman who gave birth to a child on a flight from Mexico City to Ciudad Juarez was 42-year-old Wilene Toulous, who was fleeing gang violence in Haiti. On the Aeromexico plane, one of the passengers filmed a flight attendant carrying a newborn down the aisle and handing it over to his happy parents.

After landing in Ciudad Juárez, doctors provided assistance to the mother and child and then took the boy to a specialized children's hospital. According to the Daily Mail, the mother was taken to another hospital, but she and her child were later reunited.

According to the regional health department, after 24 hours of hospitalization, the mother was able to regain consciousness and leave the hospital to hold her baby. Fortunately, a doctor was on board to help deliver the baby in the air.

According to media reports, the new mother and her husband were fleeing gang violence in Haiti to meet with U.S. immigration agents to discuss their asylum application.

Aeromexico made a generous gift to the newborn - 90 free flights, as the airline celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.

"We are sincerely happy to be part of this wonderful story that is just beginning," the company said.

The carrier expressed gratitude to the doctors for their professionalism and to the flight crew and pilots for their well-coordinated work, emphasizing that the safety of customers and employees is their highest priority.

It is not yet known how far along in her pregnancy the passenger was. Aeromexico rules allow women 33 weeks or more pregnant to travel only with a medical certificate.

As previously reported by TravelWise, an EasyJet flight was interrupted due to the illness of one of the passengers.
