It's hard to believe, but the City of Light and Love hides its secret side that sends shivers down your spine. The catacombs of Paris, known as the Empire of the Dead, are a place that has become a resting place for millions of human bones visible in the walls of the tunnels.

Experts who have explored the catacombs estimate that the bones and skulls of more than 6 million people are buried in these damp tunnels. The Times of India detailed what tourists can expect in this location.

It is noted that the underground labyrinths beneath the streets of Paris span more than 320 km of tunnels. Exploring the underground passages, it's easy to get lost, and therefore it's not surprising that there are legends about explorers who couldn't find their way out of the underground maze. Visitors report hearing the sounds of footsteps wandering through the mysterious corridors. Additionally, some claim to have heard strange whispers in the tunnels, and in certain places, they have seen ghosts vanish into thin air.

Today, the site offers guided tours for tourists, but there are specific restrictions on traveling through the tunnels. Tourists and adventurers can become lost while exploring these ancient passages, which is particularly risky at night. Moreover, there's still a danger of tunnels collapsing due to hidden pits and unstable ceilings in the labyrinth, adding to the eerie atmosphere. However, these factors don't deter adventurers from returning here repeatedly to get their adrenaline pumping.
