Hosting on Airbnb can seem like an easy way to make extra money, but the reality is often more complex. When David and his wife decided to list their North Leeds home on Airbnb to cover wedding expenses, they had no idea what lay ahead. A young couple from Switzerland, who seemed more interested in each other than sleep, left a bad review due to an "uncomfortable bed," despite the lively evening they had.

Despite these challenges, David and his wife pressed on, motivated by their financial goal. They decided to list their entire house for a week, moving in with David's mother while two Latvian "academics" took over their home. When they returned, they found evidence of heavy drinking and damage to their property, including a flipped mattress, broken lamp, and cracked window. The final straw was a used condom on the radiator, discovered with dismay.

Realizing the impact on their neighbors and their own peace of mind, they decided to stop hosting on Airbnb.
