The Italian region of Calabria in the south of the country is offering new residents £26 thousand for moving. Since 2021, the local government has introduced a programme that would help small villages stay afloat and develop the economy, but they need new residents to do this.

There are several nuances that those who plan to start a new life in a resort region with perfect beaches and incredible nature need to know. The Daily Star wrote about the tempting offer.

First of all, you need to consider the conditions for receiving funds. New residents applying for payments must be under 40 years old. In addition, those wishing to move to Calabria need to be ready to work. New residents are obliged to develop their own business or take up one of the existing vacancies.

The funds will be transferred to the new residents' accounts for three years. Each time, newly minted foreigners or residents of Italy will be paid up to £1,000. Alternatively, one-time financial support can be offered to start a new commercial activity like a hotel, restaurant, bar, rural farm or shop.

If you decide to move to one of the villages located in a picturesque region, you will have 90 days to set up a new life and find a job.

The aim of the proposal is to help boost the local economy in villages with 2,000 inhabitants or less.

Calabria is located in the south of the country between the coasts of the Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas, but it is mostly small settlements with unusual buildings and cozy streets, not huge resorts. For some, this can be an advantage because there is always a place on a sandy beach with turquoise water.
