IATA and Star Alliance have announced an enhancement to their travel compliance solutions partnership with the adoption of Timatic AutoCheck. This new system will provide travelers, airlines, and travel professionals with streamlined access to precise immigration information, ensuring a smoother travel experience.

Timatic AutoCheck automates the document verification process, offering customized instructions for each passenger. This innovation is crucial as global passenger traffic is expected to double by 2040, demanding more efficient airport operations.

Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General, noted that Timatic AutoCheck marks a significant step toward greater efficiency and convenience in the travel industry. The tool allows passengers to navigate complex travel regulations with ease, ensuring a stress-free journey.

Automating travel document verification, one of the most time-consuming tasks, will greatly benefit from this new system. Star Alliance plans to utilize Timatic AutoCheck to verify the travel documents of over 340 million passengers annually, supporting the move towards contactless travel.

Theo Panagiotoulias, CEO of Star Alliance, emphasized their commitment to improving the customer experience. He believes that partnering with IATA for Timatic AutoCheck will enhance operational efficiency for member airlines and significantly improve the airport experience for travelers.

IATA's Global Passenger Survey (GPS) indicated that complicated visa requirements deter many travelers, who prefer a digital and straightforward visa application process. The survey revealed that 36% of travelers avoid certain destinations due to immigration complexities, with 49% citing process difficulty as the main barrier.

Additionally, 66% of travelers expressed a preference for obtaining visas online prior to travel, and 87% are willing to share their immigration information in advance to expedite airport procedures. This readiness to engage with digital solutions aligns well with the capabilities of Timatic AutoCheck.

Walsh highlighted that Timatic AutoCheck capitalizes on travelers' willingness to use online processes and share information beforehand. By confirming compliance with immigration requirements before reaching the airport, this tool aims to offer a more user-friendly and efficient travel experience.
