The enchanting gardens of Villa d'Este and the ancient ruins of Hadrian's Villa in Tivoli, located 30 km northeast of Rome, will be opening their gates for special night tours on Saturdays throughout August. These late-night openings provide travelers with a unique opportunity to explore these historic sites under the spellbinding glow of evening lights.

For travelers, this means a chance to experience the renowned Renaissance water gardens of Villa d'Este and its spectacular illuminated fountains on the evenings of 3, 10, 17, and 24 August, with visiting hours extended until 23.45. Likewise, the majestic Villa Adriana, constructed by Emperor Hadrian between 118 and 138 AD, will welcome visitors until 23.00 on 15 and 16 August. These openings allow tourists to enjoy these historic landmarks in a way that's different from the usual daytime visits, adding a magical nocturnal ambiance to their travel experiences.

Furthermore, the picturesque Villa Gregoriana park in Tivoli will also be accessible for evening visits from 18.30 to 20.30 on 10 and 17 August. However, visitors need to book in advance via the FAI website, ensuring a well-organized and exclusive evening outing. This initiative not only extends the visiting hours but also enhances the travel itinerary for those exploring Italy's rich cultural heritage.

The extended hours and special evening tours are particularly beneficial for travelers looking to maximize their sightseeing schedules. Visiting these sites at night offers a cooler and less crowded experience, allowing for a more relaxed and immersive exploration. The illuminated fountains and gardens of Villa d'Este and the ancient grandeur of Villa Adriana at night provide a picturesque setting that is perfect for photography and quiet reflection.

FAI, Fondo Ambiente Italiano, also known as the National Trust for Italy, has played a crucial role in preserving these and many other cultural and natural sites across Italy. Since its founding in 1975, FAI has been dedicated to the conservation and restoration of Italy's heritage, managing over 60 sites and welcoming nearly a million visitors annually. The organization relies on the support of members and donors to protect Italy's unique landscapes, art, and history for future generations.

In addition to these nighttime attractions, another fascinating location worth visiting while in the Tivoli area is the Monastery of Torba. This historic site, managed by FAI, is located in the northern province of Varese and offers a glimpse into the Lombard era. The monastery complex, which includes a church, a tower, and frescoed interiors, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and provides a serene and historical experience.
