This July, significant upgrades to the rail track between Nuneaton and Peterborough will enhance travel experiences for passengers. Network Rail is set to install new tracks along the route, aiming to provide smoother and more reliable journeys.

On 13-14 July, engineers will focus on the track between Leicester and Peterborough. Over the weekends of 20-21 and 27-28 July, the work will shift to the section between Leicester and Nuneaton. These improvements are part of a broader initiative to upgrade the Midlands rail network.

For travelers, this means a more comfortable and dependable journey across the region. The upgraded tracks are expected to reduce delays and provide a better overall travel experience. While this essential work is underway, CrossCountry will offer a revised train service, including some rail replacement buses to ensure continued connectivity.

Since April, Network Rail teams have been busy replacing over three miles of track between Stamford and Oakham. This upcoming work is a continuation of those efforts, aiming to modernize and improve the railway infrastructure.

Travelers are advised to check their journey details before traveling. Information can be found through National Rail Enquiries, CrossCountry’s website, and social media channels. This proactive approach will help minimize inconvenience and ensure a smooth travel experience during the upgrade period.

Mark Budden, Network Rail’s route director in the East Midlands, acknowledged that engineering work can be disruptive but emphasized the necessity of these upgrades for improving the overall passenger experience. The planned work aims to deliver smoother and more reliable journeys across the East Midlands. He encouraged passengers to check their travel plans in advance via National Rail Enquiries or their train operator.

Clare Shaw, CrossCountry’s interim regional director for the East Midlands and East Anglia, expressed gratitude towards passengers for their patience during these essential upgrades. She urged those traveling on regional routes throughout July to verify their travel details beforehand and to allocate extra time for their journeys.

CrossCountry, a leading train operator in the UK, plays a vital role in connecting various regions across the country. Known for its extensive network, CrossCountry services span from Aberdeen in the north to Penzance in the southwest, making it one of the most geographically extensive rail networks in the UK. The company is committed to providing reliable and efficient services, ensuring passengers have a comfortable travel experience. With a focus on continuous improvement, CrossCountry regularly upgrades its services and infrastructure, reflecting its dedication to passenger satisfaction. These upcoming track upgrades are part of this ongoing commitment to enhance the rail travel experience.
