Travelers in the New York metropolitan area should prepare for a week of potential delays and rerouting from May 13 to May 16. Several major tunnels and bridges, including the Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, and Outerbridge Crossing, will experience lane closures due to ongoing maintenance and repair projects. Additionally, enhanced security measures at Newark Liberty International Airport's Terminal B will likely lead to longer wait times for passengers.

Lane closures at the Holland Tunnel will be particularly disruptive, with overnight closures scheduled from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning, affecting both New Jersey-bound and New York-bound lanes on various nights. The Lincoln Tunnel will also see significant disruptions, with closures impacting different tubes throughout the week during overnight hours. For Outerbridge Crossing, travelers should anticipate one eastbound left lane closure from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly from Monday to Thursday.

At Newark Liberty International Airport, the installation of new TSA screening technology at Terminal B from 6 a.m. Monday, May 13, through 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 17, is expected to cause extended security wait times. Travelers are advised to arrive at least three hours before their scheduled departure. Ongoing construction at John F. Kennedy International Airport also continues to cause disruptions, with road closures and detours impacting access to various terminals.

PATH train services will be affected as well, although the specific impacts on World Trade Center-bound and Hoboken/33 St-bound trains are less relevant since the mentioned dates fall outside the scope of this advisory. Nevertheless, travelers using PATH services should stay updated through official channels for any further changes.

Given the extensive list of disruptions, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey recommends that travelers use mass transit options where possible and allow for additional travel time. The authority also urges travelers to stay informed by visiting official websites and using travel planning tools to check real-time updates and rerouting options.
