Travelers in the New York and New Jersey areas should prepare for significant lane closures and service changes affecting major bridges, tunnels, airports, and train services from May 31 to June 6. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has issued advisories urging travelers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time due to these disruptions.

Significant lane closures are planned at the George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel, and Lincoln Tunnel, affecting both eastbound and westbound traffic at various times. Additionally, Newark Liberty International Airport's Terminal B will experience extended security screening delays from Monday through Friday due to equipment upgrades.

John F. Kennedy International Airport is undergoing a $19 billion redevelopment, causing significant detours and delays. Travelers are advised to use mass transit, such as the 20-minute trains to the Jamaica AirTrain JFK station from Grand Central Terminal or Penn Station, to avoid roadway congestion.

At the George Washington Bridge, closures will impact the upper and lower levels from Friday night through Saturday morning, and again on Sunday for the 37th Annual American Cancer Society George Washington Bridge Challenge. Similar disruptions will affect the Holland Tunnel, with nightly closures for ongoing Superstorm Sandy repairs.

PATH train services will also be affected, with World Trade Center-bound and Hoboken/33rd St-bound trains bypassing Grove St Station on weekends for station rehabilitation work. Additional trains will run from Exchange Pl to World Trade Center to accommodate passengers.

Travelers using JFK Airport should note changes to for-hire vehicle pick-up locations and taxi stands, along with dedicated parking for individuals with special needs. At Newark Liberty, all rental car transactions have moved to a new consolidated center connected to the terminals via AirTrain Newark.

The Port Authority urges all air travelers to pre-book parking to avoid peak period surcharges and ensure a spot. LaGuardia's Q70 bus service remains fare-free year-round to promote public transit use.
