Travelers in the UK should prepare for wet and stormy weather as a series of Yellow National Severe Weather Warnings are currently in place. While some regions may start the day with bright and sunny conditions, showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon, particularly affecting parts of the south, southwest, eastern and central England, and Northern Ireland.

On Wednesday and Thursday, a low-pressure system will approach the UK from the east, bringing heavy and prolonged rainfall. This system's path will determine how far west the heavy rain will spread. Chief Meteorologist Andy Page mentioned that the low-pressure area in the southern North Sea will push heavy rain across the country, with areas exposed to northerly winds likely seeing the most rainfall.

Travelers should expect rainfall amounts of 30-40 mm in many areas, with some places potentially receiving 60-80 mm. Upland regions could see even higher totals, possibly up to 150 mm.

Looking ahead, Friday's weather is expected to bring showers, especially in the north. By Saturday, a front from the Atlantic may bring rain to Northern Ireland and western Scotland. However, for many, Saturday could still be a fair day with warmer temperatures slightly above average.

Sunday’s forecast indicates a return to unsettled and showery weather, which may affect travel plans. It is crucial for travelers to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and heed any warnings to ensure safe journeys.
