Bad weather has struck the United Arab Emirates. Rain and winds of varying intensity are expected until Tuesday, which could result in poor visibility and flight delays.

UAE airlines are urging passengers departing the country on Monday and Tuesday to arrive at the airport in advance to avoid problems. Khaleej Times obtained comments from carriers to assist passengers in preparing for potential difficulties on their way to the airport.

Emirates, Etihad, and flydubai emphasize that all flights are currently operating on schedule, but they recommend the following precautions:

  • Allocate extra time to reach the airport.
  • Complete online check-in before arriving at the airport.
  • Monitor flight status on the airlines' websites.

"Due to the forecasted severe thunderstorms in Dubai on February 11 and 12, customers traveling to Dubai International Airport may experience travel delays. We recommend allocating extra time to reach the airport and completing your flight check-in prior to arrival for added convenience," said an Emirates spokesperson.

"Please allow extra time for travel to the airport. You should aim to arrive four hours prior to your flight's departure," added flydubai.

Currently, all Etihad flights from Abu Dhabi are operating as usual. However, remaining vigilant and conducting flight checks will never be redundant.

The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) predicts rain and winds of varying intensity through Tuesday, which may result in poor visibility.
