United Airlines App Now Automatically Reassigns Passengers to Preferred Seats
United Airlines has expanded a new feature in its mobile app that automatically reassigns passengers to their preferred seats if they become available after booking. Initially launched in March for a limited number of users, this feature is now available to all passengers. The app notifies travelers when a preferred seat, such as a window or aisle, becomes available and automatically rebooks them.
In the past month alone, United has automatically reassigned seats for over 18,000 passengers, nearly 40% of eligible travelers within the same class of service. To use the feature, passengers simply select their seat preference in the app when booking. If that seat becomes available later, they are automatically reassigned and notified.
United’s app continues to innovate, offering features like live radar maps for weather-related delays and rebooking options for disrupted flights. These enhancements aim to streamline the passenger experience, reduce the need for in-person assistance, and solidify United's app as a leading tool in the airline industry.
