Vaping and acting defiant: Jet2 passenger was removed from the flight due to disgraceful behavior
During Jet2's flight LS727, the crew had to disembark a passenger who was disregarding the general flight rules. The intoxicated man was smoking a vape and disturbing the peace on board.
It is noted that the plane, en route from Edinburgh to Tenerife, was forced to divert the flight to Madeira, Portugal. The man was handed over to the police on the spot, the Daily Mail reports.
Witnesses said that the man was disoriented and drunk. He was stumbling in the aisle and using an electronic cigarette, ignoring the rules prohibiting smoking while flying on an airplane. After landing at the Portuguese airport, the troublemaker was handed over to about five Portuguese officials. It is noted that during the transfer of the man, the passengers shouted "cheerio", welcomed the actions of the flight attendants and clapped their hands.
A Jet2 spokesperson commented on the situation, saying that they have a zero-tolerance approach to passengers who engage in such shameful behavior. He added that the man is now permanently banned from flying with their low-cost airline.
"Our colleagues and customers should never have to face this kind of behavior, and we would like to thank our crew for the way they handled this difficult situation. We will fully support the authorities in any further investigation and will not hesitate to compensate for any losses incurred as a result of this sabotage," said a spokesperson for the airline.
Earlier, TravelWise reported that Jet2 intends to increase the number of flights from Manchester Airport to Santorini.
