Croatia is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, but the country has been rather late in fighting uncontrolled tourists.

Recently, local authorities have updated the list of unacceptable things that can result in a fine of up to 4 thousand euros. Most Croatian cities have signs informing about actions prohibited by local law, writes Express.

"In some Croatian urban centers, authorities can impose on-the-spot fines for behavior that is considered inappropriate there. This includes fighting, verbal abuse, going shirtless and drinking alcohol near a protected area such as a school," the report says.

What tourists can be fined for in Croatia:

  • Walking in the city without a shirt or in swimsuits
  • Wearing clothes that promote drug use
  • Sleeping in public places
  • Climbing monuments
  • Urinating in public places
  • Drinking alcohol in protected public places
  • Vomiting in public places.
