The annual Weimar Onion Market, the oldest folk festival in the region dating back to 1653, will take place in the German city of Weimar, Thuringia. From October 11 to 13, the city’s main square will become the center of celebrations, with hundreds of stalls offering a wide variety of onions, agricultural products, and local crafts. One of the key events will be the selection of the Onion Queen, who will represent Weimar for the following year.

In addition to agricultural goods, visitors can enjoy local cuisine, crafts, and performances by musicians and street artists. During the event, it is also worth visiting Weimar’s historical landmarks, including Goethe’s House and the Belvedere Palace.

In addition to its cultural and festive offerings, Weimar is home to several renowned museums and landmarks that are well worth visiting. The Bauhaus Museum, located in the heart of the city, showcases the origins and development of the famous Bauhaus art school, which revolutionized modern art and design. The museum boasts a significant collection of exhibits, including works by famous artists, providing visitors with a deeper insight into the world of avant-garde design and architecture.

For those interested in literature and philosophy, the Nietzsche Archive is a must-see. This museum is dedicated to the life and works of philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and is housed in the villa where he once lived. It preserves original manuscripts, personal items, and in-depth studies of his influential writings. These landmarks, along with Weimar's rich artistic and intellectual heritage, make the city a captivating destination not only for festival-goers but also for lovers of culture and history.

This Onion Market is not just a celebration of local agriculture but a vibrant reflection of the city's rich cultural heritage. Visitors can immerse themselves in centuries-old traditions while exploring the heart of Weimar, from bustling market stalls to iconic historical landmarks. Whether you are drawn by the culinary delights, local crafts, or the deep history, Weimar offers something unique for every visitor. The festival continues to evolve, blending ancient traditions with new elements, creating a lively and festive atmosphere that makes it an unforgettable event for all tourists.
