The WestJet Group has significantly ramped up its international flight services from Calgary this winter, marking a notable expansion in its global flight schedule. The enhancements include the introduction of a new, year-round service to Tokyo and increased flight frequencies to major European cities like Paris and London, further connecting Western Canada to key global destinations.

Starting October 27, 2024, WestJet will operate flights three times a week from Calgary International Airport to Tokyo Narita International Airport. This service, previously only available in the summer, will now continue throughout the year, reflecting the growing demand for continuous connectivity between the two regions. Additionally, the airline has bolstered its European connections, offering daily flights to both Paris Charles-de-Gaulle and London Heathrow Airports starting the same day.

The expansion is not limited to transcontinental routes. WestJet is also increasing its presence in popular leisure destinations such as Mexico and Hawaii. This winter, travelers can enjoy up to thirteen weekly flights from Calgary to Cancun and daily services to Puerto Vallarta, starting November 11. Furthermore, the frequency of flights to Honolulu will increase to three times a week beginning November 16.

John Weatherill, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer at WestJet, emphasized the strategic positioning of their Boeing 787 Dreamliners to meet the surging demand for international travel. "Our winter schedule is tailored to provide superior global access from Calgary, catering to both business and leisure travelers," Weatherill noted. This sentiment was echoed by Chris Dinsdale, President and CEO of The Calgary Airport Authority, who highlighted the positive impact of these services on tourism and the local economy.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the largest aircraft in WestJet’s fleet, plays a crucial role in these enhanced services. Capable of carrying up to 320 passengers, this aircraft is designed to offer a comfortable and efficient travel experience across long distances, equipped with state-of-the-art amenities and entertainment options.

With these enhancements, WestJet continues to strengthen its position as a key player in the international aviation market, providing vital links that foster tourism, business, and cultural exchanges between Canada and the world.
