WestJet Opens Frankfurt Airport Gateway With Condor Codeshare
WestJet, Canada's prominent low-fare airline, announced a new codeshare agreement with Germany's Condor Airlines on June 24, 2024. This partnership enables WestJet customers to fly directly to Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) from five Canadian cities, including Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, and Halifax.
Under the new agreement, WestJet passengers can book flights operated by Condor Airlines on a single ticket, ensuring seamless travel with checked baggage transferred directly to their final destination. This collaboration aims to simplify transatlantic travel for both airlines' customers, offering a more efficient and integrated travel experience.
John Weatherill, WestJet Group Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the benefits of this partnership, stating that it provides WestJet guests with access to a broad range of tourism destinations across Europe and Canada. This codeshare agreement marks a significant step in enhancing travel convenience and meeting the growing demand for affordable leisure travel.
WestJet passengers will also have the opportunity to travel on Condor's latest Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, known for their distinctive and colorful liveries inspired by vacation themes. This adds an extra touch of excitement and novelty to the travel experience, aligning with Condor's rebranding as a vibrant vacation airline.
Additionally, Condor passengers looking to explore Canada can benefit from WestJet's extensive domestic network. The codeshare agreement further enhances connectivity to the United States for Condor passengers, offering seamless travel through major Canadian hubs such as Toronto, Halifax, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
Jens Boyd, Condor's Commercial Director, expressed enthusiasm about the strengthened partnership, emphasizing that it streamlines connections for passengers at all Canadian airports. He noted that passengers could go directly to their connecting gate after immigration, eliminating the need to retrieve and recheck baggage.
Overall, this strategic alliance between WestJet and Condor Airlines is poised to enhance travel options for passengers on both sides of the Atlantic, providing a more integrated and convenient travel experience. Travelers can now book their complete journey through WestJet.com and the WestJet app, earning WestJet Dollars throughout their trip.
