What makes one of the happiest towns in the UK thrive
The town of Hexham, located in Northumberland, has been selected as one of the happiest in the United Kingdom. This determination comes from the 12th annual Happy at Home Index, published by the online real estate company Rightmove at the end of 2023.
Rightmove conducted a survey among over 26,000 individuals to identify the ten regions of the country where the happiest residents reside. According to The Express, the analysis considered 13 happiness factors, including aspects like community spirit and access to green spaces.
The top spot in the Rightmove index was claimed by Richmond upon Thames in London, followed by Winchester in Hampshire. Hexham, situated in the northeastern region of England in Northumberland, secured the tenth position on the list of the UK's happiest towns, as per Rightmove.
This town is just a 30-minute drive from the remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site - Hadrian's Wall. This defensive fortification, constructed of stone and turf, delineated the boundaries of the Roman Empire and traverses the entirety of Great Britain along the Carlisle-Newcastle line.
