Why are there ashtrays in airplane toilets if smoking is prohibited on board

Despite the ban on smoking on an airplane, you can still see ashtrays in the toilets. They are placed in case some particularly impatient passengers decide to hide and smoke.

Of course, this does not relieve smokers of liability, but it can insure the entire crew and travelers against fire, WA Today writes.

Air carriers strictly prohibit smoking during a flight, as acrid smoke can harm passengers, and fire can cause a fire due to flammable items on board. In addition, passive smoking is being fought against all over the world.

However, it often happens that the crew catches offenders, and the alarm scares people. To prevent them from throwing a cigarette butt on the floor or in a trash can in a panic, risking setting it on fire, the crew prudently puts an ashtray.

Smoke is still not as dangerous as open fire on an airplane.

The fine sometimes reaches several thousand dollars, so you should not break the rules and endanger passengers and crew.
