Winter tourism in full swing: Uludağ prepares for New Year's holidays
As the countdown to the New Year begins, hotels in the northwestern province of Bursa are gearing up for the holidays. Uludağ, a popular winter tourism destination, is also eagerly anticipating winter visitors.
One night's accommodation, including entertainment, costs between 8,000 to 10,000 Turkish liras ($275-345) per person. In Uludağ, located in the northwestern province of Bursa and one of the country's leading ski resorts, the snow depth reached 30 centimeters, and the temperature ranged from -1 to -4 degrees Celsius, as reported by hurriyetdailynews.com.
Although there was occasional fog on the hotel grounds, construction equipment began clearing snow on the roads. Hotel occupancy was approaching 50%, but despite the heavy snowfall, the snow depth on the slopes was not sufficient. While the final checks of the slopes and lifts were underway, hotels were preparing two- and three-day packages.
The cost of an overnight stay, including New Year's Eve entertainment, is expected to range between 8,000 and 10,000 lira per person, with ski passes, ski equipment rental, training, and other costs not included.
Ski equipment rental starts at 600 lira per day, and clothing (top and bottom) costs 400 lira per day.
For beginners seeking private lessons, the cost of lessons starts at 2,000 lira, and special discounts are available for groups. Families with children who want to ski can arrange individual lessons for their children over four years old. The average cost of skiing, excluding accommodation, is between 4,000 to 5,000 lira per person.
In addition to the cost of accommodation and skiing, chains are mandatory for visitors traveling to Uludağ. Chains can be purchased for prices ranging from 600 to 900 lira, including installation. The cost of chains sold for SUVs and jeeps depends on the vehicle.
Alternatively, parking lots are available for those who want to spend the New Year's holidays in Uludağ. The daily fee for accommodation in the caravan park is 120 lira.
Visitors who dine at the market in the second hotel area enjoy the winter by barbecuing in front of their caravans.
