Wizz Air, known for its budget-friendly air travel options, has introduced a new seasonal route that connects London Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Varna Airport (VAR) in Bulgaria. Starting on June 18, 2024, this service will operate three times a week, providing Londoners and travelers from the surrounding areas a direct link to the picturesque Black Sea resort city of Varna.

A Boost for Leisure Travel

The addition of this route is part of Wizz Air's commitment to enhance access to lesser-known yet charming European destinations. With fares starting as low as £26.99, the airline continues to uphold its reputation as a carrier that makes travel more accessible and affordable. This new service not only supplements Wizz Air’s existing routes from London's Luton Airport but also increases the total weekly flights to Varna to eight, offering more flexibility and choice to travelers.

Varna: A Hidden Gem in Europe

Varna, Bulgaria’s third-largest city, is a vibrant mix of port, naval base, and beach resort with a wealth of attractions for visitors. The city is famed for its extensive coastline, featuring over 22 beaches that stretch along 32 kilometers of scenic seaside. Beyond the sun and sand, Varna is steeped in history, home to the fourth-largest Roman Thermal Baths in Europe and a notable Archaeological Museum. The city’s Primorski Park offers numerous beautiful spaces ideal for relaxation and leisure.

Convenience and Personalized Services

The schedule of flights—Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—is strategically planned to accommodate both short weekend breaks and longer stays. This routing not only serves those residing in North London via Luton Airport but now also caters conveniently to those in South London and nearby counties through Gatwick. Additionally, passengers can enjoy a personalized shopping experience through Wizz Air’s newly launched AI-powered platform, which offers recommendations tailored to their destination.

A Strategic Expansion by Wizz Air

This announcement reflects Wizz Air's strategic approach to expand its footprint in the London travel market, acknowledging Gatwick's significant role in serving the southern parts of the city and beyond. The airline expressed enthusiasm about the new route, emphasizing its role in fostering connections between the UK and Bulgaria and enhancing the travel experience for various types of travelers.

In Conclusion

Wizz Air’s new route from London Gatwick to Varna is set to redefine summer travel for many, promising an affordable gateway to one of Bulgaria’s premier destinations and enriching the travel options available to London’s diverse population.
