Probably all children (and not only children), having got acquainted with the magical universe of Harry Potter, dreamed of receiving a letter from Hogwarts one day or at least visiting the magical castle. Today everyone can partially fulfill this dream: stroll through funny stores with various magical things in Diagon Alley or walk through the corridors of Hogwarts. This enchanting atmosphere awaits guests at Universal Orlando Resort and other parts of Universal Studios, and if you plan to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the only question that remains open is when. The time you choose depends on the weather, the availability of great deals and the crowds.

If determining a good time to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, you should immediately focus on peak periods. High season is expected usually from May to August, in late October and from Thanksgiving to the New Year's holidays. The off-season should include March through April, September through mid-October and most days in November. The low season runs from January through February.

Rush hours mean that you will expect long lines, high prices and crowds of tourists. However, the latter is part of the special atmosphere at some events: you can't imagine Halloween and Christmas celebrations without crowds of joyous fans of the Harry Potter universe. So, the best time for you to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando will depend on what kind of vacation you are looking forward to.

Universal Orlando theme park is hard to catch not being crowded. The crowd fills the resort for spring break, then comes the "hot" summer. After a short period of time, the resort is"invaded" by tourists for Halloween, then Christmas and New Year's holidays again. Thus, January and February are the only months of the year when it is quiet.

Once the holidays are over, the lines get smaller and prices drop. If a trip in winter does not suit you, plan it for the shoulder periods: March-April, September, the first weeks of October and November.

When it comes to days of the week, there are many more visitors to the park on weekends than on weekdays near the middle of the week. Even the time of day matters: queues between 12:00 and 15:00 usually peak, so it's best to use this period for lunch or a break. It's the least crowded in the mornings, and with early entry, which you can get for an extra fee (resort hotel guests also get it), you can enter the grounds before the gates open. So if you want a good look at Diagon Alley an hour before the general flow, get in early.

Best time to go to catch good weather

Orlando in the summer means almost daily afternoon thunderstorms, heat and humidity. This weather challenge is not for everyone. This is another reason to choose a good time to travel to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in the off-season. In September and October, temperatures drop to the mid-80s and the rains no longer whip up daily. Autumn and winter in Orlando are drier and cooler but the skies remain clear and temperatures don't creep below a comfortable 72 degrees. Another time of the year it's definitely worth visiting Universal Orlando Resort's Wizarding World of Harry Potter is spring: the weather is pleasant and there aren't too many visitors.

When to look for low prices?

To get into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, you need to purchase a ticket to Universal Orlando Resort. And this purchase isn't the cheapest, especially during peak periods. The rides based on the Harry Potter universe are located in two parks, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida. You can purchase one ticket to one park or you can purchase one ticket to both parks for a higher cost. In the second case, you'll get access to all of the parks' attractions and the Hogwarts Express that runs between them.

The cost of admission tickets to the parks varies depending on the time of year. In many ways, the price coincides with the high and low period schedules. Thus, the most favourable offers can be found in January and most of February. Naturally, not taking into account the winter vacation period, New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day: these dates a huge number of Harry Potter fans choose to visit the parks. Good prices are also set in early March and most weekdays in September and October. The cost goes up on weekends, as well as on certain holiday dates. For example, Halloween Horror Nights is one of the most crowded events that lasts for months and draws huge crowds, especially on weekends.

During times when the park has landmark events scheduled, you should definitely not expect quiet and minimal queues. However, this is exactly the right time to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and enjoy an amazing atmosphere of fun and togetherness with other fans of the famous saga of the boy who survived. The biggest events usually take place on Halloween and Christmas.

Diagon Alley is transformed into a gathering place for Death Eaters during Halloween Horror Nights. Visitors can expect thrilling dragon rides and interesting dark arts entertainment. Still, Halloween is inferior to Christmas in terms of scale and number of guests. It is the grandest and most popular event in the park. While a regular admission ticket is enough for Halloween, a park-to-park ticket is required to fully enjoy all the adventures of Christmas.

Universal Orlando's version of Castle perfectly captures the atmosphere with holiday decorations, lights and fireworks. The Diagon Alley decorations will make you linger there for a long time. And, of course, you need to warm up with a flavourful creamy beer. Naturally, this period is the most crowded, and prices increase significantly. If you still want to touch the festive atmosphere, choose the initial dates when there are still not so many visitors.

When not to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?

Based on everything that defines the best time to visit Universal Orlando's Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you can also make a list of the most unfortunate periods. First, the peak of summer with hot and stuffy climate, long lines and high prices for tickets, accommodation and related expenses. That said, there are few significant events during this time. Most of the events in the books take place in autumn and winter, so these periods are the most suitable for visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
