Uchi Restaurant by Chef Tyson Cole

The sixth outpost from Chef Tyson Cole and Hai Hospitality. What the people of Houston, Dallas, Denver, Miami and Austin have tasted and loved can now be appreciated by you in Old Town Scottsdale.

Tyson Cole is the recipient of many awards, including the James Beard Awards. The restaurant's symbolic name was born from its first location in Austin and has kept the atmosphere ever since, only adding some tones and improving the service. One of the most anticipated new restaurants in Phoenix on the Japanese food scene.

Menu

Maintaining its level and reputation, Uchi is preparing to offer both hot and cool tastings to its Scottsdale diners. Traditional items on the menu will offer sushi and sashimi, enhanced yasaimono (vegetables), tempura and one of the signature desserts, Japanese cheesecake (creamy sorbet with date marmalade and pumpkin seed muesli).

A must-taste dish

If you are not a vegetarian, you should opt for the hot wagyu beef, and for fish lovers, the hirame usuzukuri is a dish of flounder candied in quinoa and olive oil.

Tasting menu

If you want full satisfaction, the 10-course offering may satisfy you. Although you can limit yourself to a 6-course omakase for the first time. A vegetarian tasting menu will also be available.

Drinks

Signature cocktails travel with all outposts, maintaining character and keeping the atmosphere flowing. You will find a wide selection of sake both hot and cold. Wine and beer will complete your list of preferences.

Opening: early 2024.

Santo Restaurant by Robert Centeno and Armando Hernandez

Santo will take over The Vintage space in Arcadia. Robert Centeno was a James Beard semifinalist while still heading up the kitchen at Bacanora Restaurant, and Armando Hernandez is co-owner of two other gastronomic scenes: Cocina Chiwas and Tacos Chiwas. The joint project involves a programme of fine dining and a light atmosphere for comfort and appetite. Now this is a Phoenix restaurant that is definitely a must-try.

Menu

The gastronomic list will keep a balance between Cocina Chiwas and Espiritu, offering diners steaks of different cuts, saviche and a variety of salads.

A must-taste dish

Perhaps there will be no specific position here. We will only point out one thing: the restaurant uses both wood-fired and charcoal grill. We advise you to taste the difference of aromas and tastes obtained by such fiery methods.

Drinks

Thanks to the alcohol list, you will be able to get to know Mexican whiskey better, as well as its counterpart bourbon. Mexican accents will be on the wine list as well, diluted with sake and wine brands from other countries.

Flour & Thyme from Ivan Jacobo

A great opportunity to try masterpieces from Ivan Jacobo at a more affordable price tag. His Anhelo in the heart of the city has already been awarded several honours and is quite popular. The interiors of Flour & Thyme have a more casual style that feels more like a bistro. There is a two-sided fireplace on the patio and live plants pleasing to the eye and adding oxygen to the room. A super new addition to Phoenix's restaurant list.

Menu

For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant offers a variety of carefully selected dishes to satisfy a large number of finicky diners. Jacobo characterized the menu as "upscale tapas."

Drinks

A pleasant surprise for diners will be the 170 vessels of wine presented in a boutique style. The price per glass won't exceed $20.

Opening: now.

Address: 944 S. Mill Ave., Tempe.

The appetizer menu is planned to be updated annually, and short hors d'oeuvres will delight you at the bar. A great experience consisting of an exciting new format and approach.
